Why Stories by Alexis?
Stories BY Alexis is about how I share knowledge, experiences and views of the universe. As an indigenous women storytelling is in my blood; it feels natural. I would like to tell stories orally but I stumble and can still feel the unkind snickering jabs of others through out my life. At all ages we make fun of others who cannot read words ‘our’ way, in whatever language we speak; or when we hesitate to think and process how to speak; or even when we stumble and stutter. So my heart prefers to tell stories in writing. When I write, words flow and they reflect a tone that is right for the message. Writing makes magic happen and so my Soul shares.
Like many of you … to my parents I am a child, to my children I am their parent; to my boss I am an employee, to my employees I am a boss; to my friends I am a friend. Life experiences and time have gifted my Soul to be a creator, writer, speaker, trainer, facilitator, grandmother, mother, daughter, runner, cyclist, yogi, reader, gardener, cleaner, caregiver, organizer, believer, inspirer, and possibly more … We all bring a piece of each of us to this world — we connect and judge everyone we know based on our teachings, biases, knowledge and experiences ….
STIGMA & SELF-STIGMA are barriers I face daily by family, friends, colleagues and strangers to feeling safe and wanting to share. Writing this blog is my way of sharing in 2018 stories I have written over the years and upon reflection how all these writings have helped me deal with life. I have many lived experiences and medical conditions that have impacted me such as trauma, depression anxiety, osteoporosis, glaucoma and at times ruling out illnesses of cancers, and multiple sclerosis.
I write to process all the information coming into my brain and align it with my heart. My outlook on life is my daily inspiration. I take nothing for granted and strive to show love in all that I do (hard to show this in the depth of winter or despair); it is my daily commitment to this gift of life, I live … Enjoy #StoriesbyAlexis
